DIY Art Idea to Steal

I have recently started fiddling around with colour blocked paintings.  I previously considered the use of tape "cheating," but I just loved the clean edges so much that I couldn't resist forever.  Now I'm hooked!

A friend has asked me to help her create a large painting to hang in a hallway.  I have been thinking something like this could be a project we could work on together.  I love this painting, especially with a brighter colour combination (although the soothing grey is nice - it just needs some yellow!).

So . . . . Ashley, what do you think?

  1. I've tried it with tape and by hand, and though I can paint a fairly straight line, I still like the crispness of the ones I taped much better.

I like the gray too, but just a tad of vivid color would be great.

  2. I don't know if you've seen this but they have a different take with thinner lines and a pop of color. It's on my list of art to make this year. I'm going to update my idea now because I like the more horizontal lines of your example rather than the random lines of my example!

  3. Hi Kat,

I just checked out the link. Their painting is very similar, just brighter. I love it, thanks for the info!
