Adding More Colour to a Home

I must sound like a broken record, but I'm really trying to add more bright punches of colour to the townhouse.  I need to keep saying it (and typing it) to make it a reality.  I love bold colours but when push comes to shove I sometimes wimp out.

Although these felted wool abstracts I made are pretty bright . . .

. . . this painting I made turned out a bit more timid than planned.

My mom and I are trying to squeeze in some time to paint together while I am visiting and I am daring myself to keep trying bolder colours because look how gorgeous a splash of a saturated colour can be:

House & Home

The photo was snagged from a House and Home article about designing rooms around outfits.  I am slowly adding more colour to my wardrobe, too, but given the orange and grey earrings I made this weekend, that evolution might be slow-going.  Grey is still playing it pretty safe!

What design/decorating goal have you given yourself?

  1. We recently purchased an old school desk for $3 from a junk shop. It's for my kids. My husband has been painstakingly sanding it. Then we will re-stain and coat and spray the metal in a true metal color instead of nasty brown. I can't wait to finish it!! I love breathing new life into vintagey things :)

  2. Oooo, sounds exciting. I hope you post photos!

  3. I hope you and your mom are having a great time together!

  4. The wool is a great idea! Bright yet organic feeling.

  5. Yes, it can be difficult to reconcile what you want with what you want to want.

  6. Dana, I am having a good time visiting my mom. Time seems to just fly by, though.

  7. Sounds like you and your mom have a great time visiting and painting together. What a blessing! The painting you did that is hanging on your wall is awesome!!
