Colour Inspiration: Mint Green Decor

Bedroom photo from Houzz
With my (free!) gallon of minty paint sitting in the basement, I'm slowly plotting my next DIY project.   If you remember my inspiration for the basement, icy turquoise and pale pink were the accents I planned to pair with a warm, rich griege, which would then be peppered with a bit of black and white.  But the bedroom above illustrates how well a minty-hue works, too. . .

Maybe some mint-hued shelves for the laundry room, or a fabulous little table for a reading nook?

Oooo, minty furniture sure is plentiful.  Here are a couple more tasty pieces:

I love mint doors.  Cupboard doors.  Front doors.  A basement door . . .

A small dose, or large splash, of mint in the art?  You know there will be art galore.  I'm planning a few projects that anyone can do.

Britt Bass; Poppy Sweet Briar
Some accessories, definitely.  I'm thinking a minty lamp . . . and more.

So many ideas!  Mint green is pretty popular right now, and I love all of this inspiration.  Have you added any mint (DIY or otherwise) to your space?

  1. Ooh you've got some real winners there. Love the mint paired with the greige, and the color combination in that art by Brittany Bass is so happy and charming. I scored a mint lamp base from Goodwill just a few weeks ago, but I'm still on the hunt for the perfect shade. Can't wait to see what you decide for the basement!

  2. Mint is everywhere right now, isn't it? Which you would think would make finding a dress for my sister's wedding a cinch (She wants her bridesmaids in an eclectic array of mint skirts and dresses), but I can't find one that is modest and sophisticated. I wish I could borrow some of your mint paint a paint a dress.

    P.S. I LOVE those candlesticks.

    1. Could you find a cute white dress and dye it? Or have a dress maker make one from a sweet mint fabric? I had my wedding dress made by a dress maker and it was surprisingly affordable.

    3. It would make for a great post! YHL has a dress dyeing post buried in their archives. I think certain fabric take dye better, so you might want to google it up. P.S. with your dark hair, you will look fab in mint! I hope you share pics :)

  4. Interesting! If you had asked do we all like mint I would have said NO. After seeing all these images I think I love mint. Being open minded pays off huh?

    1. A convert! I love it! I always thought of mint as a little dated (I think my 80s bedroom was minty) so turquoise was always my favorite. But now I see how fresh mint can be (and how darn close it is to my favorite colour).

  7. My daughter has long been a minty girl. The kitchen walls in her previous home were mint. The cabinets were white with a frosted glass insert, and the floors were a textured black tile. The effect was stunning.
