Why it Pays Not to Celebrate Christmas

I've heard a lot of people say that Christmas really snuck up on them this year.  I don't know if this is a competition, or if there is a prize (if there is, please let it be this), but I think it might have snuck up on me the most.  Since I've stopped celebrating Christmas I just don't even think about it.  I was in my own little world all month and then today I woke up and all the grocery stores were closed (crap).  It's Christmas!  For my Christmas-loving readers, I wish you a merry one.  For anyone else who doesn't celebrate Christmas . . .

. . . you might love this list.  Number 10 resonates most with my currently-at-work Hubby.

  1. Hi, Tanya.
I always love stopping by "your place" on Christmas, since I can be sure you will be free of the clutter of seasonal doodads overloading so many other sites. I know these things delight many others, so bless their hearts... but the older I get, the more I treasure simplicity. We, too, are moving out of a townhouse this year and hope to be into a very small house with a large garden in the spring. There is absolutely no room for doodads! Even though for me the Christmas holiday does have religious significance, I prefer not to exchange gifts. We like to have a "second Thanksgiving" - gather a few friends, relish a slow meal and a good bottle of wine, and focus on the intangible things that make our lives most rewarding. I hope the coming year brings you and your family much joy. You've certainly earned it!

    1. Happy second thanksgiving!! Your way of celebrating sounds lovely - peaceful and meaningful.
It seems the seasonal doodads were in full force this year and I found myself steering away from shops and the internet. I didn't even open my home decor magazines for Nov and Dec, knowing exactly what they held in store. So happy January is in sight!

You've made my day - I love hearing from you! I approve comments only to keep out the spam, so don't worry if your comment doesn't pop up right away.
