Bathroom Update: Kohler Purist Faucets + Crisis Averted

Today’s a big day for the bathroom renovation because our Kohler purist faucets are finally installed!

The bathroom is done!

Kidding (sorry, that was cruel).

But when you can use the toilet, bathe, AND brush your teeth in the same room (the same room!), you start to wonder what else could possibly be done to make this bathroom feel more complete…

Bathroom Renovation Progress // Home Decor Blogger

Oh right, a few things can still be done to complete this bathroom reno – the dangling wires, for one, aren’t an art installation.

But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!  The shower curtain rod was a special order and it just came in.  We’re planning a shower curtain hack, so I’ll be doing some late night sewing I’m sure.  The custom mirror was measured and ordered – the standard, in stock length is 72″ and ours needs to be 72 3/4″ so we were 3/4 of an inch away from having it immediately.  I had to laugh, but it’s getting installed Friday (yay!) so I didn’t have to wait long at all.  I picked up the replacement cabinet drawer fronts but I’m too nervous to unwrap them, so I stashed them under the vanity – which is ridiculous, I know.  Meanwhile, Hubby and I skipped ahead a few steps and even hung up some artwork.  Accessorizing this bathroom – finally – makes me feels triumphant!

I’ll have more photos once these bits and pieces comes together but today I wanted to share a peek at the new Kohler purist faucets!  For those who agreed that that the hole drilled for the faucet looked off centre, it was (sigh), but we had enough play that we could center the faucet on the sink so you’d never know the hole beneath was off centre.  Whew!

Kohler Purist Faucet Vibrant Brushed Nickel

I opted for a fairly tall (10″) stone backsplash simply because I’m so smitten with the quartzite – rocks in general! – so getting as much of that gorgeous veining as possible was my mission.  With such a tall backsplash, you sometimes see wall mounted faucets (like in this bathroom designed by Amber Interiors) which look amazing!

Wall Mounted Faucet

I chose a single lever Kohler purist faucets for a very specific reason, though.  Living in the country, I’ve become much more attuned to how much water we consume.  Our well isn’t a reservoir so water can’t be held there so there’s no real reason to “save” it, although we can run out (especially when the ground freezes too deeply).  For times when the water is low, I’ve started to turn off the faucet while I wash my face, brush my teeth, wash my hands, etc.  I know most people have been trained to do this for tooth brushing, but I do it for everything now!  When I wash my hands, I turn on the faucet, wet my hands, turn off the water with my wrist, lather, sing my ABC’s, turn on the faucet with my wrist, and rinse.  Having a single lever just makes my new water conservation habits so much easier than wrestling two handles – plus the water is always at the perfect temperature.

Aqua sink grey counter

I know that this is a strangely personal and admittedly weird reason to want these single lever Kohler purist faucets but it was a must-have for me even though, aesthetically, a wall mounted faucet with two handles would have looked stunning in here.

I’m so thrilled with this progress because the Kohler Purist facuets are gorgeous!  I always wanted Kohler products so I’m over the moon that Kohler agreed to partner with me because unwrapping the Kohler items has been such a treat; everything has proven to be more beautiful than in photos.  It’s also incredibly satisfying to have all of the vibrant brushed nickel finishes match perfectly.  Had I mixed and matched brands, the finishes would have been off.  I can’t wait for the mirror to get installed tomorrow because next up: the Kohler sconces, which have been calling my name.  I’m excited for a little mood lighting in here.

P.S. That is the last turquoise soap rock I have from when I stocked up on clearance soap rocks a million years ago.  I bought mine for about $6 a bar but they’re regularly $12-15 (if you don’t mind variety, this bundle of soap rocks is a good deal).  I have not yet committed to unwrapping it… You can look but can’t touch.

UPDATE: I figured out how to make my own gemstone soap!  Check out my DIY gemstone soap tutorial right here.

So true! I was spoiled in the townhouse because the bathroom went so smoothly but, if I'm being honest, tiling the kitchen took soooo much longer than anticipated. But I blocked it out, lol.

Gorgeous! I'm so in love with the quartzite , the tall back splash does it so much justice. I'm itching to buy a house after seeing this bathroom ha ha but we will have I figure out where first! I think you can do so many things in a rental – except kitchens and bathrooms and these beautiful stones are making me so impatient !! I'm glad u mentioned the soap. While reading, I was all – pls talk about that soap, pls pls ,and then u did at the end ha ha. If I were u, I would never be able to unwrap it I think 🙂

I totally understand the limitations rental pose. I should really do a post about all the ways owning a home sucks, lol, because it really balances the scales :)Aren't those soap rocks great? They smell amazing, too. I've added a couple of links to the post so you can find the turquoise on Amazon but it's kind of expensive so I found a good bundle deal. They would make such great housewarming/hostess gifts!

I just about started celebrating when you said it was done! lol. I like the choice of faucet and where it's placed. Sink faucets on the wall just look strange to me. I love the sinks but I have to say the name right there in the center would bother the heck outta me. And what the heck is a soap rock? Never heard of such a thing, it looks purdy though.

Oops, sorry! SO close. I thought the badge would bother me too but I don't even notice it anymore. It's more obvious in these cropped shots than when you're standing in the room, taking it all in. Or maybe I just zero in on different annoyances, lol.

can I ask you, are the wall mounted faucets black or oil rubbed bronze? Are they also kohler? I have been trying to find the purist line in a darker color but can't find them. If you wouldn't mind sharing your source, I'd appreciate it so much. Thanks so much!

I'm not sure about those – they're just inspiration for me, not my bathroom (mine is the brushed nickel). The source is linked in the post, but here it is to save you some scrolling:http://amberinteriordesign.com/before-after-dr-client-clients/I do know that she doesn't always share her sources, which can be a bummer, but it doesn't hurt to ask.Hope you find what you're looking for 🙂
