Hi! I'm Tanya, the blogger behind Dans le Lakehouse, a DIY blog, craft blog, renovating blog, decorating blog, healthy living blog, and lifestyle blog all rolled into one aqua package! "Dans le Lakehouse" is my Bug Bunny-esque French for "In the Lakehouse" (my ode to being Canadian), and this is where I share all of my creative endeavors.
I'm so happy you stopped by for a visit!
There are few projects I won't try, especially if Handy Hubby is game. You can see our updated DIY project gallery here and you'll find all kinds of DIY ideas: everything from small and do-able home decor projects to fresh and modern craft ideas, as well as budget-friendly room makeovers and handy home renovation tips - we've even painted a car!
Hubs and I have been DIYing together since we met as teens, so of course the first house we bought was a fixer upper. We spent years updating our little 1970's townhouse in Ottawa, Canada. You can see the result of our budget-friendly townhouse makeover by clicking here. In 2013 we sold our townhouse (with a disappointing estate experience), but we weren't sad for long because we moved 1600km to our dream house, a small bungalow on the shores of Lake Superior. Now we live on the lake and we're updating our little lakeside cottage on a budget, transforming it from a 1990s oak bonanza into a sleek, mid-century inspired abode - and I'm so excited to share it with you (I like snooping into homes, so I'm sharing our progress for my fellow snoops!) I'm definitely putting my own, modern spin on cottage decor!
Moving to the country has been a transition for me, a former city mouse. When my hands aren't busy making something, I share my thoughts on my new rural life, saving money, and every now and then I bust out a recipe or two. The foxes think my baking is the bomb.
Who is my Handy Hubby? He's the brawn behind some of our most ambitious projects (like our DIY wood counters) and also the second set of hands for some of my fancier DIYs (like these agate necklaces). We spent four months apart when I spent time in Hungary doing research for my PhD, so he took over the blog to share his thoughts on our time apart, but otherwise he likes to stay behind the scenes.
I'd love to hear from you!
